Our Goals and Results

Energy Leap partners collaborate to reduce energy consumption in buildings. Setting goals and follow-up are key to achieving results.

Goals and Achievements in Energy Leap

Together, the 47 Energy Leap partners have achieved a 9 % reduction in heat consumption from 2021 to 2022, amounting to savings of 15 million DKK. This demonstrates that our collaborative efforts to share knowledge, data, and to promote best practices in green building investments are yielding positive results.

At Energy Leap, we follow certain principles, including setting collective goals. Together, we have established a 3-6-9 percent target for reducing heat consumption. This means that buildings within our benchmarking framework are expected to achieve annual savings of 3 %, 6 %, and 9 % respectively during their first three years. Subsequently, all buildings are encouraged to maintain low levels of energy consumption.

We are confident in our ability to reach these targets because:

  • Lower energy bills lead to cost savings.
  • The demand for green buildings provides us with a competitive advantage.
  • We take responsibility for driving the green transition in the building sector.
  • By setting an example and promoting energy-efficient buildings, we inspire others to prioritise sustainable practices in their operations and renovations. This benefits not only our partners' businesses but also the users, residents, and the overall well-being of Copenhagen.

Why Buildings Matter

The City of Copenhagen has set ambitious climate goals with its KBH 2025 Climate Plan, and one crucial area of focus is energy consumption in buildings. Buildings play a significant role in achieving these goals, as they account for approximately 70 % of total energy consumption.

As the municipality owns and operates about 5 % of the building stock, it cannot meet the targets alone. That's why partnerships like Energy Leap are crucial, bringing together key stakeholders in the real estate sector to lead the way in the green transition.

By collaborating through Energy Leap, we can address energy challenges in buildings collectively, share valuable insights and experiences, and develop innovative solutions.

Together, we have the opportunity to make a significant impact by reducing energy consumption, lowering carbon emissions, and creating a more sustainable future for Copenhagen.
